Around U Events

Around U Events were designed especially for young people living with diabetes. They are held in cities around the UK and focus either on football or dance.

The reason Bayer Diabetes Care created Around U Events was to show young people with diabetes that having diabetes should not prevent them from having fun and staying active. It is also an opportunity for them to meet other young people in the same situation and share information and advice.

Around U Sports Events are held every year during the summer holidays.

Bayer Newbury 10K

Staged in and around Newbury, the Bayer Newbury 10K is a regular fixture in the Newbury sporting calendar. The multi-terrain route welcomes runners from across the UK, Ireland and Europe and due to its popularity, has grown in size from year to year.

Bayer works in partnership with the Newbury Athletic Club (NAC) in organising the event and a local charity is chosen to benefit from the entrance fees each year.

Police Community Support Officer

Working closely with Thames Valley Police, the West Berkshire Chamber of Commerce and the Local Strategic Partnership, Bayer has helped to establish the first "Business Action Group" (BAG) and, with it, the post of Police Community Support officer (PCSO), assigned specially to the local business community.

Part of the overall neighbourhood policing initiative, this pioneering project addresses the continuing issue of business crime, which is otherwise not included in formal police targets.
