Bayer’s UK Consumer Health Team Get Volunteering to Support Sustainability

This May 2023, the UK consumer health team have actively participated in dedicated volunteering days for two local charities near to the UK offices in Reading, Berkshire.

Consumer Health Team Volunteering

Helping to reach our global sustainability goals across both a societal and environmental level, 43 colleagues/employees visited The Conservation Volunteers and Berkshire Women’s Aid sites across separate dedicated days to make a positive change to each of their environments.

The Conversation Volunteers (TCV) is a national charity with localised branches, focused on improving the green spaces within a community and delivering conservation projects. The Bayer team cleared invasive rhododendron bushes at a site in Wokingham, making a tangible impact on improving the environment and protecting our planet.

Berkshire Women’s Aid is a domestic abuse charity, which is located near to our UK offices, that supports women in the local area to provide refuge and support for them and their children in times of need. This fits in with our societal pillar to empower and provide support for women. At the site, our team cleared a heavily overgrown and neglected garden and re-painted the refuge kitchen, creating a nicer environment for the residents.

Volunteering is part of our culture at Bayer and encouraged, with the chance for all permanent employees to take time out from their working day to actively participate in volunteering activities of their choice. In addition, the Bayer UK team arrange volunteering opportunities through team building events across the divisions.
