Baylab Lab Coat Competition 2022
Baylab’s Lab Coat Competition is back as part of British Science Week 2022! In celebration of its 5th anniversary, we’ve got a couple of twists in store for you!
What might they be? Well, firstly, a theme!
The competition, which usually asks students to design a lab coat around what science means to them, is mixing it up this year with a topical subject that affects them, their communities, and the planet. An issue that both impacts people’s health and accounts for 8% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, food waste is one of the major contributing factors to climate change. So, in honour of COP-26 and the UN’s Sustainability Goals, we’re excited to see what Food and Food Waste means to infant, junior, and senior students in this year’s Lab Coat Competition!
All students in each category need to do to be in with a chance of winning a set of lab coats and other great prizes is design a lab coat around the theme of food and food waste. Completely open to interpretation by the students, this could be illustrations of fruit and veg, favourite recipes using leftovers, food distribution, or nutrition. Whatever the direction or inspiration, the more creative, the better!
Don’t forget to revisit this page on Monday 24th January 2022 when registration opens for you to receive your full competition resource pack.
Secondly, there are two more exciting activities to get involved in! Just click the links in the right hand column of this page to find out what they are, and how you and your students can continue the fight against food waste.
