Food Waste Warrior
Do your Key Stage 2 students love to have fun whilst learning and helping the planet?
Then we’ve got the perfect activity for you!
In collaboration with Veg Power, a not-for-profit dedicated to getting kids to eat more veg, we bring you: Food Waste Warrior!
Brand new for 2022, this exciting project continues the theme of this year’s Baylab initiative. Focusing on how important the reduction of food waste is for protecting our environment, it seeks to teach and encourage the conversation about a topical subject that affects our planet on a daily basis.
Aiming to highlight this issue amongst the next generation, we have, together with Veg Power, designed a series of fun, all-important missions for Years 3 – 6 students to complete. Using skills such as analysis, literacy, and numeracy, students must help Sydney the Scientist in her quest to reduce food waste from field to fork in order to become the official Food Waste Warriors of our future!
With a certificate and the title of Food Waste Warrior up for grabs, this activity allows your students to embark on a new project which offers them tips and tricks to help make a difference, whilst equally testing their knowledge and skillset in line with KS2 ‘Living in the Wider World’ learning opportunities.
To support the delivery of Food Waste Warrior both in and outside the classroom, there are specially created teacher and student resources available here. Completely free of charge, this activity is permanently available for you to download and run within your KS2 year groups. For all the details and resources required to run this activity as part of your curriculum, please register here.
